It can be very busy on the roads to Winterberg, especially on Friday afternoons, Sundays and during school holidays. We give you some tips and alternative routes to avoid the crowds and traffic jams, especially on the last part of the route.
The biggest bottleneck used to be when you came off the highway. There you pass through a number of villages and Bestwig in particular was a delay. Fortunately, this changed at the end of 2019 because the highway now continues a lot further and you no longer have to go through Bestwig.
This new stretch of highway also contains a (literal) highlight! It is the highest valley viaduct in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia and measures 115 meters high.
The biggest bottlenecks will be at Bestwig and between Olsberg and Winterberg.
