What are our favorite restaurants in Winterberg
Indian restaurant Taste of India
Perhaps a not so obvious choice to eat in Winterberg. We put it to the test and were pleasantly surprised.
The service was very friendly (had to loosen up for a while) and attentive, the service was smooth. It was quite busy on a Sunday evening. There are no German hits, but quiet Indian music. Closed on Mondays.

The menu is quite extensive with a lot of choice in vegetarian dishes. But of course also dishes with lamb, fish, shrimp and chicken, the famous curries and a number of specialities.
There is also an extensive choice of starters including 4 soups, various fried snacks, the famous papadum and 4 salads.
The price level is good. The starters are on average 5 euros, the main courses vary from 11.00 - 20.00 euros and the desserts are around 4.50. We lost 55.00 with starter, main course and dessert and 2 drinks pp. for 2 people.

Athens Greek restaurant
Restaurant Athen is located in the center of Winterberg and was completely renovated in 2017 and is now a modern Greek restaurant. Previously it was more of a somewhat dated Greek restaurant in German style. The owners are Greek and very friendly. This restaurant is actually always (almost) full, even during the week. If things go wrong there is a waiting time of 10-15 minutes before a table becomes available. If you're lucky, you'll have a table right away. Many Winterbergers come here and fewer tourists.
The menu is fairly extensive and the dishes are about the same price as at the Greek in the Netherlands. We eat here regularly for 40-50 euros with 2 people. We each have 2 dishes, wine / beer or fresh. In addition, you will of course receive a free glass of ouzo.
It is less suitable for larger groups. There is 1 large table in a niche and 8 to 10 people can sit here (10 people is tight but doable). Furthermore, most tables for 4 - 6 people and tables for max 2 people.
Parking is generally easy to do in front of the door or at least in the street near the Athen. After 6 pm parking is free.

Blackwater Irish Pub Winterberg
Best steak in town
The Blackwater Irish Pub in Winterberg is, in our opinion, one of the nicest and best restaurants in Winterberg. It is a real pub: busy, cozy, you can watch football (at fixed times), drink good beer (besides the ultimate pub beer 'Guinness', there are also many other beers on the menu), a wide range of other drinks and, above all, exquisite Irish beef steaks and much more. Blackwater Irish Pub is a real cozy Irish pub with ditto decor and TV screens for watching football. There are the standard low tables with chairs, but you can also opt for a high table with benches and/or bar stools. They also have a lovely, spacious and sunny terrace with good furniture.

What's on the menu at Blackwater Irish Pub?
- Starters: wide choice of tapas, 'chips' (homemade chips!!), nachos in various variants, chicken wings etc
- Main courses: of course Fish n Chips, steaks in different weights (200, 250 and 300 grams), spare ribs, hamburgers, chili con carne (also homemade) and more.
- Salads: you can choose from 5 different (large!) salads
The Irish rumpsteak is amazing and served on one of the heat sizzling plate. The advantage is that the steak stays warm until you have finished it all. You can choose from different toppings on your steak. On the right you see the rump steak on the hot plate with herb butter and pepper sauce.
At Blackwater Irish Pub you can also choose from various (large) salads with baguette. Here you see the salad Paddy's steak salad . This one is made with pieces of Irish beef fried in garlic butter and served on a side salad.

- On days when there is football, it can also be followed live in the Blackwater Irish Pub
